Engagement Photos in the Fog

Engagement photos in the fog was not the plan. In fact, the plan was for a sunrise engagement session at Erwin Park. I woke up that morning, looked out side, and verbally said “yes! Fog!”. Now I am sure Leah’s initial reaction wasn’t the same. You don’t usually get excited to wake up super early for sunrise when the sun is no where to be found. But as we started walking around through the fog, Leah and Adam saw how unique and beautiful it was. And you can’t plan for a morning like this…so it was super special to have a session scheduled! With the pond, the trees, and the fog this made for a super fun engagement session! It gave a little edge to the photos and the lighting was perfect from a photographer’s perspective. If I could schedule more engagement sessions in fog I would. But since I can’t, I will just have to enjoy looking at these until next time.

Now in just a few months these two will get married at Chapel Ana Villa. Which rain, shine, or fog is a beautiful place to tie the knot! Here are some of their engagement photos until then:

Dog Lovers Engagement Photos

Bringing your dog on an engagement shoot is something I have become very familiar with over the years. Couples love their dog and want to bring them along to help capture this season of their life: engaged, happy, and dog lovers. So when Justin and Marissa asked if they could bring their dogs to the engagement session, I of course said it would be great! What I didn’t realize was that these were 3 of the biggest and strongest dogs I had ever seen. When they pulled up, they didn’t just get out of the car with their dogs. They got out, went to the back of the SUV, and opened the back. Out came 3 dogs who would definitely beat me in a wrestling match. The goal was to spend about 15 minutes with the dogs getting some photos of Justin and Marissa with the dogs. What we didn’t anticipate was the dogs agenda. They didn’t get the engagement photos with dogs memo. The got the memo that there would be squirrels and smaller dogs (well, every dog is smaller) at White Rock Lake. So while we were trying to get them to look at the camera and snuggle up with Justin and Marissa….the dogs were looking at all the furry things running around White Rock Lake. Needless to say, with the help of Justin and Marissa’s friends who Kindly came to help, we were able to get a few engagement photos with dogs and send the dogs home. We spent the rest of the session without our furry friends and just walked around White Rock lake to get some beautiful engagement photos around the lake. It was green and sunny, which make for some really pretty photos! And now I am even more excited about their fall wedding at The Grand Ivory! For that wedding, we will be working with Each and Every Detail, so we know it will be a well planned and executed wedding! But for now, enjoy some of their engagement photos at White Rock Lake.

Airfield Engagement Photos

A pilot getting to take engagement photos at an airfield was amazing! When I first met Kali and Adam I just threw the idea out, always trying to incorporate their personality and life into their photos. Kali immediately began to throw out more ideas to make it a shoot to remember. She brought the old suitcases, Adams flight gear, and they dressed the part perfectly! I may or not have smiled more than them behind the camera during the session! I was just so excited to shoot at an airfield with a pilot! The hangers, the runway, the screen…it was all perfect. We began by finding some cool planes to use as props thanks to some incredibly kind pilots at the airfield. Then we walked to a few hangers. And ended our airfield shoot walking on the runway, dodging landing places, and having a blast! I could get used to the pilot life! Enjoy looking at some of Adam and Kali amazing airfield engagement photos!

Meagan and Erik’s Dallas Engagements

Meagan and Erik flew in from North Carolina to get their engagement photos taken as well as complete some other wedding planning here in Dallas. The only problem: it rained… and it rained… and it rained. All day long we kept delaying the session in hopes the clouds would give us a few moments of dry for pictures. But it didn’t. And it wasn’t just raining…it was pouring so much that there were rivers in the fields and lakes where there was supposed to be grass.

So what do you do? You buy an umbrella, put on your rain gear, and make the best of it. We started off in downtown McKinney for some pictures on concrete where we could at least avoid the lakes and ponds of water. After some pictures there, we changed into dry clothes and headed over to The Farmhouse McKinney to wade through the water and get soaked while taking photos. We made it as quick as possible before we just couldn’t find a dry spot on us. Meagan and Erik were such troopers! And hopefully all the rain will be out of the system by the time they get married in December at Rustic Grace Estate! But if not, it will just be another adventure in wedding photography. As a wedding photographer, we always have to be on our toes!
